Eligible Users

Use of equipment in the SBIC-Nikon Imaging Centre for research purposes is available to all researchers in Singapore. Currently, there will be no charge for use of the microscopes or for training on them.

Application for Training

If you would like to use the equipment in the SBIC-Nikon Imaging Centre, please fill in the application form. All users must be trained by the staff of SBIC-Nikon Imaging Centre prior to any unsupervised use of instruments and prior to gaining access to the Centre.

Scheduling Use of Equipment

Instructions for scheduling use of equipment online will be given when access is issued. All users must sign up online at least two days in advance prior to use of the equipment; using equipment without signing up online is prohibited.

All users must accurately record the actual time the equipment was used on the log sheets provided by each imaging station. All users are required to check the equipment and to report any damage or unusual phenomenon to the staff of SBIC-Nikon Imaging Centre. Any repair or replacement will be charge to the user who damages the equipment.

Users are required to use 35mm Petri dish for the Live Cell Imaging system. Glass bottom 35mm Petri dish is recommended to fully optimize the system and better image quality. Glass bottom 35mm Petri can be purchase from the SBIC-Nikon Imaging Centre at S$10 per piece. Only Cash is acceptable and no invoice will be issued.

Canceling or Amending Scheduled Time

All users must contact the staff of SBIC-Nikon Imaging Centre to change or cancel scheduled use of equipment. Researchers are strongly encouraged to cancel scheduled time with as much notice as possible.

Acknowledgement Policy

It is important that any publication incorporating data acquired or analyzed in the Nikon Imaging Centre acknowledge the use of the SBIC-Nikon Imaging Centre.  Please include an acknowledgement statement something like: “Microscopy data and image for this study were acquired and/ or analyzed in the SBIC-Nikon Imaging Centre at Biopolis.” Please also state the equipment use for obtaining the Microscopy data and image.

Reporting of Publications

We would also like to collect a list of publications that result from use of the SBIC-Nikon Imaging Centre.  This will allow us to demonstrate to the vendors that have supplied equipment to the SBIC-Nikon Imaging Centre that the imaging Centre is producing useful scientific results.  When you publish a paper incorporating data acquired at the of SBIC-Nikon Imaging Centre, please send either a reprint of the paper or the complete citation of the paper to clement.khaw@nikon.com.sg

Reporting of microscope purchases

If you wish to purchase a Nikon microscope or equipment from other SBIC-Nikon Imaging Centre NIC corporate partners, Please contact clement.khaw@nikon.com.sg.

Data Management

All data save in the computer at SBIC-Nikon Imaging Centre will only be kept for 3 days and will be deleted after the third days. User is required to save their data from the computer after each session. DVD Burner is provided in each computer system which user can use to burn the data into their own DVD disc. DVD disc can be purchase from the SBIC-Nikon Imaging Centre at S$2 per piece. Only Cash is acceptable and no invoice will be issued.

Users are required to bring their own thumb drive to save their image when using the DS-L2 digital camera system.

SBIC-Nikon Imaging Centre will not be responsible for any loss of data save in the computer system.
